Specialty Tulip Bundles

These tulips are not your typical grocery store tulips. These specialty tulips are what is called double tulips and we select them each year for their long vase life, gorgeous peony-like heads and incredible unique colors. Many of these varieties will open up as big as your palm! We bundle these up ‘French-style’ which means we leave the bulbs on the stems. This extends their life from field to vase for you. Simply snip the bulbs off when you are ready to put them into a vase. Add flower food to cold water, snip the bulbs off and place tulips in your vase. Voila! They will eagerly drink and rehydrate beautifully, beginning their evolving dance for your pleasure. Something to remember about tulips: they grow longer stems while in the vase. So give them a snip every other day and refresh their water. You should receive 5-7 days vase life if kept out of full sun and heat. Enjoy Flower Thief Friends!

Bundles are florist’s dozen: 13 tulips per bundle. Wrapped in compostable Kraft paper, tied with twine and ready for gifting to others or even better, yourself.

FAQ: everyone always asks: can I plant the bulb after I snip it off? Of course you can! However, because these are pulled from the earth at peak bloom, the bulb doesn’t yet have enough energy back in it to produce a flower the following year. We’ve heard that you can plant these ‘blank bulbs’ and they will send green leaves the following year, but it will take 2-3 years for that blank bulb to create enough energy to send up another tulip.
